Historic Grade II listed Stoke-on-Trent canal-side house to go under the hammer

A 200-year-old, Grade II listed, canal-side house on Chatterley Road, Stoke-on-Trent, is to be auctioned this month with a guide price of £225,000.

Chatterley Canal House, a three-bedroom, two-storey property, next to the Trent and Mersey Canal, will feature in the next live stream auction held by BTG Eddisons Property Auctions on 29 July.

Built in the late Georgian era, between 1824 and 1827, the whitewashed brick building’s multiple period features include brick gable chimney stacks, arched window heads and a distinct central doorway.

The house, which also has private parking and a garden, was built as a canal worker's lodge to serve and monitor the barges passing through the adjacent Harecastle Tunnel, designed by James Brindley and Thomas Telford to transport coal and pottery from the region.
