Round Table Family Raises Over £25,000 for CALM After 28.8 Mile Lost Hours Walk

Members of the Round Table Family walked overnight from Birmingham to Staffordshire's National Memorial Arboretum, raising over £25,000, marking five years of fundraising for suicide prevention charity CALM.

THE SIGNAL BRIEF

What’s new: The Round Table Family has passed £25,000 in collective fundraising for suicide prevention charity CALM following its fifth annual Lost Hours Walk.

By the numbers: Participants walked 28.8 miles overnight on 24–25 October, from Birmingham to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Why it matters: The event raises funds for suicide prevention while encouraging conversations about mental health and the importance of supporting one another.

Members of the Round Table Family have reached a major fundraising milestone after completing their fifth annual Lost Hours Walk, taking their collective total to over £25,000 for suicide prevention charity CALM.

The 28.8-mile overnight challenge saw members of Round Table, Ladies Circle, Tangent and 41 Club walk from Birmingham to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire on 24–25 October.

Timed to coincide with the clocks going back, the walk sees participants travel through darkness into daylight, symbolising the importance of hope, friendship and supporting those struggling with their mental health.

Despite sore feet, blisters and exhaustion, walkers completed the challenge together, supported by volunteers, friends and family throughout the night.

Among those taking part was Daniel White, Chairman of Lichfield Round Table and Area 35 Round Table Britain & Ireland, who helped establish the annual event.

It marked his third major fundraising challenge as Area Chairman, with his fundraising efforts this year now exceeding £15,000 for CALM.

Daniel said:

"This was the hardest challenge yet. My feet still hadn't fully healed from the 200-mile walk I completed in August, and there were moments when I really struggled. But the organisation rallied around me and got me across that finish line.

"That's exactly what the Round Table Family is about. We support one another, and when someone is struggling, we don't leave them behind.

"Reaching £25,000 collectively is an incredible achievement, but the real impact goes beyond fundraising. It's about getting people talking, challenging the stigma around mental health and reminding people they're never alone.

"Every walker, volunteer, organiser and supporter deserves credit. This is what happens when an organisation comes together for something bigger than itself."

The milestone reflects five years of commitment from the wider Round Table Family, whose members continue to combine friendship and community involvement with fundraising for important causes.

The Round Table Family hopes its fundraising milestone will inspire more people to speak openly about mental health, check in on friends and seek support when needed.
