Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Chairman for 2025-26, Councillor Adam Parkes, has handed over a cheque for £4,500 to one of his chosen charities, Biddulph Youth & Community Zone (BYCZ).
The wellness and wellbeing charity has been providing support and activities from its purpose-built Church Road base in the town for the past decade. In a typical week it works with 150 young people aged between 9 and 16, and many adults beyond that number.
The money will fund a youth and mental health project lasting 15 weeks and will include activities around arts and crafts, expression, writing a journal, fitness, and healthy eating.
In their work, specialist staff at the charity make it their priority to create a safe environment for young people and adults from the most deprived part of the town to open up and discuss their concerns with the encouragement and support of their peers. They will also signpost to other organisations that can provide help.
