World-class golf returns to Staffordshire as LIV Golf tees off at JCB

Some of the biggest names in golf have arrived in Staffordshire as LIV Golf UK presented by JCB begins today at the JCB Golf & Country Club in Rocester.

The international sporting event will take place from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th July, bringing four days of world-class golf, live entertainment and festival atmosphere to the Staffordshire countryside.

A total of 57 players will compete across four rounds and 72 holes, with 13 teams of four joined by five wildcard players. The field includes some of golf’s most recognisable names, competing in both individual and team competitions.

The tournament is being held at the JCB Golf & Country Club for the third consecutive year, further establishing Staffordshire as one of LIV Golf’s leading destinations.

Set among the rolling countryside surrounding Rocester, the championship course will provide a spectacular backdrop as thousands of spectators arrive from across the UK and further afield.

Thursday’s opening round begins with a shotgun start at 1.15pm, with players starting simultaneously from different holes to ensure there is action taking place across the course throughout the afternoon.

Rounds two and three will also begin at 1.15pm on Friday and Saturday, before the final round gets under way at 1.05pm on Sunday. The tournament will conclude with a podium ceremony at the 18th green.

Away from the competition, visitors will be able to enjoy the event’s Fan Village, hospitality areas, food, drink and entertainment.

Saturday will see British electronic music duo Chase & Status perform an After Play DJ set following the conclusion of the third round. The chart-topping act will take to the concert stage at around 6pm, bringing their distinctive drum and bass sound to the heart of the Staffordshire countryside.

The event is not only an important date in the international sporting calendar, but a major opportunity to showcase Staffordshire to a worldwide audience.

More than 40,000 people attended the 2025 tournament. According to figures released by LIV Golf, last year’s event generated an estimated £45 million for the UK economy through event operations, employment and visitor spending.

Around 43,000 domestic and international spectators attended over three days, with money spent on accommodation, restaurants, transport and hospitality throughout Staffordshire and the wider region.

With the tournament expanded to four days for 2026, even more visitors are expected to experience the county, supporting hotels, pubs, restaurants, shops, taxi companies and other businesses.

Hosting an event of this scale is something Staffordshire can be incredibly proud of. It places Rocester and the surrounding area firmly on the international sporting map, while giving visitors the opportunity to discover everything else the county has to offer.

From its landscapes and historic towns to its attractions, hospitality businesses and local communities, Staffordshire will be on show throughout the weekend.

LIV Golf UK presented by JCB runs from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 July at the JCB Golf & Country Club, Hollington Road, Rocester. Gates and the Fan Village open at 10am each day.
