Ever since Hockerhill opened its doors in 2024, the high-end playbarn has become a popular destination for families to spend time together, host birthday parties and, most importantly, play.

The new development has been designed and created by world-class playground designers CAP.CO (Creating Adventurous Places), who have been involved with bringing the dream of Hockerhill to life from its earliest beginnings.

Charlie Giffard, co-founder of Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn and custodian of Chillington Hall and Estate, said:

“We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to improve the experience at Hockerhill for everyone. Our visitors love the outdoor area and we are sure that these new updates will make it better than ever.
“Work on the updates will begin this month and the indoor areas and cafe will still be open for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming people into the new space in time for the summer holidays.”

Freddie Egan, lead designer at CAP.CO said

“Having been involved with Hockerhill from the very beginning, it’s great to see the play experience continue to evolve. The new areas create opportunities for younger children to explore and play in a space specifically designed for them, while adding an additional dimension to the overall experience and ensuring there is even more for families with children of all ages to enjoy.”

The designs will bring a fresh new look to the outside area with the sandpit moving to a more spacious location and creating space for a dedicated toddler zone, designed specifically for children aged 0–4 years. The new section will provide a safe, engaging and stimulating environment where younger children can develop confidence, coordination and creativity through play.

A variety of age-appropriate slides, play features and interactive musical instruments will be incorporated throughout the new shaded toddler zone, creating opportunities for little ones to explore with their senses and imaginations.

There is so much to do at Hockerhill including exploring bridges, tunnels, high-level walkways and slides. For thrill-seekers there is also a pedal go-kart track, where drivers can channel their inner race car driver, on the winding tarmac track.

Construction is expected to begin in June 2026 and be completed by the second week of July, with minimal disruption to existing facilities during the development period.

Further updates on the project and opening dates will be shared through the play centre's website and social media channels as work progresses.
