Meir North to Benefit from £20 Million Pride in Place Investment

The Stoke-on-Trent ward of Meir North has been selected as one of 244 neighbourhoods across Great Britain to receive support through the Government’s Pride in Place programme.

The area is set to benefit from up to £20 million of investment over the next 10 years — an average of £2 million each year — aimed at delivering meaningful, long-term improvements for the community.

Pride in Place focuses on building better, safer neighbourhoods by supporting projects that foster local pride, strengthen connections, and create brighter futures for residents.

As part of the programme, a dedicated Meir North Neighbourhood Board will be established to oversee how the funding is allocated. Ensuring local voices are at the heart of decision-making is a key priority, with community representatives playing an active role in shaping investment plans, priorities, and projects.

To support this, the Meir North Imagination Project has been launched to gather ideas from people who live, work, and spend time in the area. Throughout May and June, the project team has been engaging with the community in a variety of creative ways — including face-to-face conversations, online surveys, community post-boxes, and an ‘Imagination Village’.

The engagement work will continue with a special Roadshow event taking place in Meir North on Friday 26 June. The event will provide another opportunity for local people to share their views on how Pride in Place funding should be invested over the coming decade and help shape a shared vision for the area's future.

Local involvement remains both key and crucial to the programme’s success, ensuring that the investment reflects the needs, ambitions, and aspirations of the Meir North community.
