Big Staffy Stroll Brings Staffordshire’s Ten Week Staffy Trail to a Celebratory Close

Dogs, families and visitors gathered at Weston Park for the Big Staffy Stroll, the grand finale of Staffordshire’s ten week Staffy Trail.

The event marked the culmination of the countywide Staffy Trail, delivered by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Local Visitor Economy Partnership and Staffordshire County Council in partnership with Making Trails.

The trail celebrated Staffy, Staffordshire’s official mascot and storyteller, while encouraging residents and visitors to explore attractions and destinations across the county.

A strong turnout saw Staffordshire Bull Terriers joined by dogs of all breeds and sizes for a walk through Weston Park’s Capability Brown landscape gardens.

The stroll took place during the cooler part of the day, before temperatures began to rise, allowing dogs and their owners to enjoy the grounds in more comfortable conditions.

The event offered a positive celebration of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, with the affection for the breed clear among those taking part.

Representatives from Senior Staffy Club Dog Rescue were also in attendance. The charity, which supports older Staffordshire Bull Terriers and helps them find safe and loving homes, is understood to be preparing to open a Staffordshire branch.

The Big Staffy Stroll provided a fitting conclusion to the ten-week trail, bringing together the county’s heritage, communities and love for one of Staffordshire’s most recognisable symbols.
