Not all heroes wear capes - care home searches for Stafford champions

A new care home in Stafford is asking the community to nominate its local heroes – with the winner rewarded with a cash prize.

Care UK’s Hartwood, which is due to open in November, is searching for people or organisations that go above and beyond for their community, friends or family and have a positive impact on the local area.

The worthy winner of the competition will receive £500 for their heroism and will be presented with the funds as a VIP guest at the care home’s grand launch event in the new year.

Katy Anderson, Home Manager at Hartwood, said: “Everyone has an unsung hero in their life – the person who organises everything, is always there for whoever needs them and never shies away from lending a helping hand.

“Here at Hartwood, we want to say thank you to those people who consistently go the extra mile in our community, whether they’re a volunteer at a local charity, the leader of a community group or simply a devoted friend.

“We’re inviting locals to share their stories so we can say thank you with a well-deserved treat. We can’t wait to read lots of heartwarming entries!”

Those wishing to nominate a local hero can do so by visiting here before 11.59pm on Friday 25th September and explaining in 100-400 words why their nominee deserves to be rewarded.

Once open, Hartwood will provide full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, it will incorporate plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
