Review | Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

REVIEW WRITTEN BY NIKKI TALBOT (6TR BREAKFAST SHOW)

Prepare to fly away alongside your childhood dreams by this truly jaw dropping thrill of a ride to the fictional country of Vulgaria where the rulers are love fool narcissists and children are banned.

I was extremely excited to go to the opening night of the latest stage musical of one of my favourite films from my early years - one I watched time and time again and grew to love with my own mother from its release in 1968.

I am happy to report I passed this legacy onto my own children Georgia and Sam , who will hopefully pass our communal delight of this tale of love , friendship and That Spectacular car to their own children.

The scenery is spot on, the acting superb and I defy Anyone not to get emotional as Chitty actually takes to the air and Flies!

How they have done this without anyone figuring out exactly How it was achieved , I have No Idea ! And trust me - I looked and looked and could not see anything holding Chitty in the air but pure magic .

The acting was to behold!

Adam Garcia as Caractacus Potts -outstanding with his plum English accent and strong singing voice alongside Ellie Nunn truly portraying , well , Truly Scrumptious with a beautiful voice,  very reminiscent of Sally Ann Howes in the original film.

The Vivienne as the evil child catcher was scarily villainous.

The cleverly written script raced along with laugh out loud, belly aching moments from Adam Stafford and Michael Joseph playing hapless Vulgarian agents Boris and Goran sent to find Chitty and her magical powers to bring back for the Baron.

An hilarious and ever so slightly risqué pairing of Martin Callaghan and Jenny Gayner playing the Baron and Baroness gave the already enthralled audience more comedic value .

The enthusiastic audience lapped up everything about this Family Classic .

I simply have to return later this week .

Catch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Regent Theatre until Sunday 27th October.
