6 Towns Radio and The Staffordshire Signal are joining forces in a new partnership aimed at making it easier for people across Staffordshire to access local news and features for free.
The idea is simple - instead of working in isolation, the two organisations will share content and support each other’s coverage so that more local stories reach more people, whether they’re listening to the radio, reading online or on the free printed edition of The Staffordshire Signal.
The partnership will see news, features and community updates shared more regularly between the two platforms. That means something covered on 6 Towns Radio could also appear on The Staffordshire Signal, and vice versa.
For our listeners, it should mean:
- More local stories
- Quicker updates on community news
- Better coverage of what matters to you
- More space for local events, charities and groups to be featured
Both outlets have always focused on local content, but this move is about widening the reach and making sure important information doesn’t stay stuck on just one platform.
It’s also about keeping things free. In a time when a lot of news sits behind paywalls, the partnership is designed to make sure local journalism in Staffordshire stays accessible to everyone.
By working together, the two organisations hope to give a stronger voice to local communities. That includes everyday stories, council updates, events, and the kind of smaller features that often don’t get picked up by regional media.
There’s also an expectation that it will make it easier for community groups, charities and residents to get their stories heard.
For now, the focus is on sharing content and building a more joined-up approach to local reporting. But both sides suggest there’s room for the partnership to grow over time.
