The Stoke-on-Trent Comedy Festival, masterminded by Me & Mrs Jones Comedy, otherwise known as Dave Twentyman and Rachel Jones, returned for a second year and has been hailed a resounding success, drawing in audiences, rave reviews, and a welcome boost to the local cultural scene.
On stage at the Forum Theatre inside the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, the festival, held over two weekends, brought together a stellar lineup of stand-up stars, offering something for every sense of humour. From side-splitting solo shows to family-friendly performances, our city centre was alive with laughter.
This year’s festival featured: Mrs Smith, George Lewis, Barbara Nice, Tez Ilyas, MC Hammersmith, Angelos Epithimou and Josh Pugh, with audience descending on the city centre venue on 9th, 10th and 17th May.
“Our goal was simple: to bring high-quality comedy to the heart of Stoke-on-Trent and to prove this city deserves a place on the national comedy map,” said co-founder and festival director, Rachel Jones. “We’d like to thank everyone who supported this year’s event, from the comedians, the staff at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, our volunteers and of course those who purchased tickets to come to the shows.”
Dave Twentyman, a comedian himself for more than 20-years and co-founder of the festival said: “As a comic from the North West, I’ve always championed making comedy and stand-up accessible to all, there’s a gap in the cultural market here in Stoke-on-Trent and with the support of those around us we hope to continue to grow the festival for this fantastic city that I now call home.”
Me & Mrs Jones Comedy continue to promote and present live comedy events across the area with regular comedy nights bringing national and energetic comedy talent to the heart of the county.
