Carriageway Resurfacing Programme 2020/21
We are continuing to commence with our programme of carriageway resurfacing for 2020/21.
This week we will be complete our works on Weston Coyney Road, this will be overnight so we can complete the sections outside the industrial parks to minimise disruption.
From Tuesday 28 July we will be commencing works on Lightwood Road / Chaplin Road junction which is expected to take a 4 days to complete. Could you please refrain from parking on the carriageway to ensure works can be carried out without any delays
Up and coming schemes that will commence in August include:
- Buccleuch Road (section in Normacot near to the school);
- Meir Road; and
- Sutherland Road
All works are subject to adverse weather conditions
Other Highway Works 2020/21
Works to improve the footways in Station Road and Winton Square are to continue, and is estimated to be completed in October 2020. To carry out these works safely there is a need to install Traffic Management in the carriageway which is to be controlled by two-way signals. Delays are to be expected throughout the duration of the works and we politely request that motorists use alternative routes and the rear carpark to the Rail Station when it is possible to do so.
Works to resurface the footpaths in Edenhurst Road and Applewood Crescent continues this week.
Up and coming footway schemes starting shortly include:
- Bagnall Road;
- Meaford Drive (sections);
- Power Grove;
- Carpenter Grove;
- Astro Grove; and
- Brook Road

Many of the roadworks you encounter when travelling around the city won’t be carried out by the city council, but by utilities companies such as water, gas or electric.
Click here to see what roadworks are planned for your area and set up alerts for your regular routes. You can also see who is carrying out the work.
There are times when work has to be carried out as an unplanned emergency and this work may not be on the map.
Has work been carried out recently in your area?
We need your feedback to make sure we are doing a good job and learn where there are any problems.
