Let’s get another band in the 10 questions chair, today it’s the turn of KiN.
1. What got you into playing music?
There has always been a great music scene in Stoke and being around older friends who were in bands was a proper inspiration. As a family we have spent a lot of time growing up at various festivals, big and small. This obviously inspired every single one of us to venture into the world of creation and arts. There was no other option, it was just always music.
2. Who was the first singer/band you saw live?
I distinctly remember watching a band at a little festival when I was tiny called Subgiant, we were camping with them at the time and I just thought it was so cool. Such a good memory.
3. What was the first song that you bought?
Barbie girl- Aqua
4. Who do you think is the best frontman/fromtwoman?
There are so many but to name a few; James Brown, Miles Davis, Alex Turner, Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks
5. Where was the first gig you played?
I played a Bohemian Rhapsody duet with my friend on piano and me on drums at a little school gig called The Celebration of Music. I had been practasing on an electric kit for weeks… I was so ready… but then I stepped on the stage and it was an acoustic kit, I’d never played on one before. First hit on the crash symbol and you couldnt even hear the piano (it never occured to me to mute the symbol).
Other than that it went well.
6. What is the best lyric you have ever heard?
‘Like a question forms an answer forms a meaning, something that we all could have believed in.’ yeah that is one of ours.
7. Who came up with the name KiN?
We always knew we wanted to be a band eventually, we’ve always been jamming and making music since we can remember (but now with a few less fall outs). The name Kinship finally came to Jake at the start of 2017.. so simple yet so bob on. We then shortened the name to KiN because it means the same and is less to type all the time.
8. What song do you wish you had written?
Shine On/Iron Sky/All I Want For Christmas
9. What venue would you like to perform?
Pyramid Stage is the dream.
10. What band would you like to support?
We would probably get on with Bonobo’s crowd.
