Carriageway Resurfacing Programme 2020/21
We are continuing to commence with our programme of carriageway resurfacing for 2020/21.
From Monday 15 June we will be commencing works on High Lane (near to Haywood Hospital) which is expected to take a 5 nights to complete. Closures will be in place but the carriageway will be open as normal each day
All works are subject to adverse weather conditions.
We are in unprecedented times due to the ongoing COVD-19 pandemic. We are continually reacting to the latest government guideline for construction works and the increasing restrictions which are being placed on us all. We are in continual contact with our contractors and if required we will cease works, once the site has been made safe.
If you plan to travel around the city during this period please seek alternative routes where possible or visit http://one.network to view updates for these works.
Other Highway Works 2020/21
Works to repair footway issues on High Street (Tunstall town centre) will continue and is estimated to take up to another 3 weeks to complete.
Works to improve the footways in Station Road and Winton Square are to continue, and is estimated to be completed in October 2020. To carry out these works safely there is a need to install Traffic Management in the carriageway which is to be controlled by two-way signals. Delays are to be expected throughout the duration of the works and we politely request that motorists use alternative routes and the rear carpark to the Rail Station when it is possible to do so.
Save time, do it online: report potholes, problems with signs
Did you know, you can now report a lot more on our website? Using a pin drop on a map, you can tell us exactly where the problem is – right from your phone. And if someone else has already reported the problem, you can add your email to it to be updated when it’s repaired.

Roadworks carried out by other organisations
Many of the roadworks you encounter when travelling around the city won’t be carried out by the city council, but by utilities companies such as water, gas or electric.

There are times when work has to be carried out as an unplanned emergency and this work may not be on the map.
