Have you ever wondered what foods fuelled champions? Well, we asked IBO Continental Middleweight Champion Nathan Heaney what goes on his plate to make him a sporting god.
“I eat the same things most days”.
I have a homemade smoothie: 50g Spinach, 150g of mixed frozen berries, 15g ground linseed, 10g Brazil nuts, 10g sunflower seeds, 30g whey protein (chocolate or golden syrup flavoured), water and blend the bad boy up.
Microwaved white rice and cold baked beans (doesn’t sound great, but it’s easy as anything, tastes decent to me and cheap!).
Anything, but still decent e.g. Chicken wrapped in bacon + homemade potato wedges + tender stem broccoli.
Chinese chicken stir fry (Aldi do a decent ready to fry version) + noodles and vegetables.
Homemade beef burgers (Aldi 5% beef mixed with an egg and loads of spicey stuff!), topped with a fried egg and in Aldi brioche buns. Plus on the side sweet potato mash with Frank’s sauce and light mayo on top.
Breakfast and lunch are virtually identical everyday (although Sunday I make me and my girls a killer full English breakfast) and it’s the evening meals that I try to mix it up. I probably eat too much chocolate and ice-cream at times, but the amount of training I do I can get away with… Just about at least.
