The latest NHS figures show that the Coronavirus death toll in our region’s hospitals is now totalling 2,241.
The national total of deaths in hospitals in England is now reported as 25,266.
The latest stats show four more deaths at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which operate Stafford’s County Hospital and Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Sadly a further a two patients have died at Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital, with a total here of 243.
There wasn’t any further deaths reported at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust or at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.
Today it has been revealed that one in 20 of the UK population have had coronavirus.
Revealing the results of a government study, Matt Hancock said the figure rose to 17% in London.
