Northampton Town 2, Port Vale 0. Report and predictions (Including McPhee, Cummins, Swan and All The Young)

28 Oct 2012
Saturday 27th October 2012
N Power League 2

Northampton Town 2 Port Vale 0.

Port Vale made 4 changes to the side that drew 1-1 at Burton last Tuesday, the most talk about one being Gareth Owen coming in for Clayton McDonald (who is suspended due to getting his fifth yellow card). Vale went behind to an Alex Nicholls strike on 20 minutes, the main focus point of the game as he had his leg broken after John McCombe inadvertently caught him whilst he was taking the shot. The game was delayed for 11 minutes whilst the former Walsall striker received treatment and McCombe was sent off. Former Stoke player Moult doubled the lead two minutes before half time and that was how it stood as Vale's seven game unbeaten run was brought to a halt.

Vale stay second in League 2, but Cheltenham are only two points behind now in third and leaders Gillingham, who won at Wimbledon are now five points clear.

Attendance: 5,061.
