On Tuesday we were invited along to meet up with Gino and a celebrity chef in the afternoon before
the evening festivities began

We had a tour around the Britannia Stadium and even managed to walk through the Waddington
suite which looked fantastic all set out in Black & Red ready for the nights show!

After the tour and just as we were tucking into sandwiches and scones in walked Gino D'Acampo
with Michael Owen!

Both looked relaxed and happy and you could tell that Gino was going to be trouble, his first words
were "Well I asked to meet Ladies today and what do I find, Men in the room!"

The lads stood chatting, signing autographs and having photos with us all for a while until they were
ushered back to the kitchen!

I asked Michael if he was the dark horse of the comp and really could cook but he assured me he
wasn’t and he really cant cook!

The evening event started at 6.30pm and was a Black tie event so everyone turned up looking very
smart and the Waddington Suite looked ace!

The three players Michael Owen, Michael Kightly and Thomas Sorensen were each partnered with
a REAL chef and set to work on the starter, Pan seared Scallop, Pea Puree & crisp Pancetta! When
they were finished it was delivered to the stage to be judged by Gino and to other judges, one being
Tubes from Soccer AM. Apparently Peter Crouch had had to cancel last minute and Ryan Shawcross
had been called away for England duties so he was excused!

We could see the dishes on the screen but had to take the word of the judges as to the taste. Every
one in the room had a blue, red and white card for each course and we then had to hand one colour
in to vote!

As soon as this was done our Starter arrived and whilst we were eating the players carried on making
a main course for the judges, Surf & Turf! ( Pan fried Fillet steak & Tiger prawns)

The night continued in this fashion and our table half guessed Michael Owen was the white team
so it was a bit of a shock to find that he was in fact Red and the overall winner of the evening! The
compere did ask for the players not to reveal which colour they were but as soon as he said Red
team had won Michael Owen leapt of his chair cheering loudly, hehe!

Gino D'ACampo was in a very naughty mood, he had a little kiss with the players’ wives whilst
they were cooking trying to put them off and later when prizes were being dished out for raffles
etc he was smooching with the ladies again, teasing their husbands at the same time! He is very
entertaining and the whole night was brilliant!
