Firefighters Urge Football Fans to Push the Button!

24 Oct 2012
Firefighters will be at the Stoke match on October 27 urging football fans to push the button on their smoke alarms.

Stoke City FC have teamed up with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to promote the Push the Button campaign and the official Push the Button video will be played to the football fans.

The Service’s Push the Button campaign urges people to push the button on their smoke alarms on a weekly basis. The campaign, into its third year, is driven by the fact that although nine out of ten households have smoke alarms, a shocking seven out of ten don’t test them.

Firefighters will be at the match handing out Push the Button freebies and asking fans how they push the button.

Station Manager, Dave Steele said: “The game on Saturday will be a great opportunity for us to get our Push the Button message out to a massive audience and we’re delighted that Stoke City FC are supporting our campaign.

“The video has been a continuing hit on YouTube last year and the viewing numbers are still rising on a regular basis – we’re approaching 100,000 hits now.

“Hopefully after enjoying the match spectators will go home and make sure their smoke alarms bleep by pushing the button.”

The Fire fighters were also at Vale Park for the Port Vale vs Wycombe Wanderers fixture.
