West End's Got Talent! A showcase of older residents skills

28 Sep 2012

Older residents will showcase their skills as a community comes together for the West End’s Got Talent event in Stoke on Monday.

The special event is being held by residents at Staffordshire Housing Association’s West EndVillage to mark national Older People’s Day on Monday, October 1.

Residents will be showcasing their skills which include writing, painting, gardening, weaving, poetry, rug making and baking.

There will be items for sale including knitted “doggie jumpers.”

The event, which is open for all to attend, takes place from 10am and 2pm in the village’s conservatory and community room.

The over-55s will be joined by around 60 children from Stoke Minster Primary School who are taking part in a project called The Child In All Of Us.

West End Village, located in London Road, Stoke, provides 100 apartments for residents aged 55 and over.

The complex, opened in early 2011, also has communal facilities including a gym, hairdressers, general store and restaurant.

It allows residents to live independently while having access to a range of staff and services when they need them.
