Come to Burslem Park and get Animated

09 Aug 2012
FAMILIES are being invited to Burslem Park this week for a series of 'Animation Workshops'.
The workshops, which include creating 'sea monsters' out of materials, and making your own short film, are running in the park all this week, culminating on Monday 13th August with a special screening of the work created.

The event is run by BArts!, a company based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, and is aimed at encouraging young people to try out something new. The project is in it's second year, after being piloted in Meir in 2011.

The Animation workshops are making their way across the parks of the city, and it began with a successful week in Hanley Park, Shelton, with over 90 children, young people and families joining in.

Hilary Hughes, External Partnerships Director for BArts!, said: "We have had mostly families come to us, and people who have just happened upon us as well.
"They all had a great time and it was lovely to see families play together in a way they don't normally do, using simple materials."

She added: "The workshops this week are taking place by the Bandstand outside the Pavilion, 3-7 Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with our 'building' workshops also taking place on Saturday.
" If you are stuck for something to do, why not come down and have a look, you can stay as long as you like!"

There will be a special screening of the animations the children and families have made in Burslem Park on Monday at 8pm. The event then moves to Tunstall Park from Tuesday.
