A look back at the week with Radical's Rising!

03 Jul 2012
Well it's certainly been a busy week for local music in Stoke-on-Trent! And Radical's Rising has been at the forefront for many goings on! Sunday 24th June saw two bands calling in to the studio for live sessions, with Substance and The Club Of Rome both playing great acoustic sets. Thursday nights Hype Chart saw The Black Mirrors keep the number one spot for a third week, with their track Fever Noir.

Sunday 1st July's show was jam packed with local music exclusives, including 'Set My Sights', a new track which will be released on Emilio Pinchi's new EP. Radical's Rising proudly gave this track it's first radio play, and with this was also a first radio play for Scott Ashley Connor's new track 'The Price'. But making the show even more exciting, Richard Buxton- the hero behind April's Hippy Haze Festival and sponsor of Radical's Rising with his milkshake business The Hippy Hippy Shake Company- called into the studio to give his big announcement, an what an announcement it was! Richard plans to put on another Hippy Haze Festival

He couldn't wait until next April, so he decided to put a Hallowe'en special on! And he has excelled even his own high standards with some an amazing line-up of local artists. Follow the link below for more information on the festival! Radical's Rising didn't stop there, though, oh no! Local band Six Towns came to the studio to play a few live acoustic numbers, including a great cover of The Black Keys 'Little Black Submarines' and a bonus track from their forthcoming EP. During the interview with Six Towns, Radical's Rising gave the bands' new single, 'For The People', its first radio airing. The song had in fact had its release time held back until it had been played on 6 Towns Radio! With all this going on, 3's A Riot front man Joe Tomasso called in to learn how to make a real brew!

Monday 2nd July saw Radical's Rising newcomer Lucee Clarke make a first visit to the 6 Towns studio after impressing with several gig reviews for the team. On the show, local mod boys Fools Paradise popped in to the studio to chat about their gig on Friday 6th July at the Full Moon, where they will be supporting Ocean Colour Scene legend Steve Craddock. During their chat, they played us a few acoustic tunes, with Jordan Gifford of Vellocet giving a helping hand on guitar. Matt Litherland, bass player of Six Towns, called in to drop off some posters to promote their EP launch and headline gig at The Sugarmill on August 3rd, whilst track wise on the show Radicals' Rising gave first air play to a track from Cult Party's new EP as well as introducing Psyence to the listeners of Radical's Rising with their first ever radio play!

Elsewhere, Radical's Rising is taking to the stage! This years Piccadilly Summer Festival is being held across July, with each Saturday of the month providing great entertainment free for all the family to enjoy! Radical's Rising is very proud to announce that presenter Lee Barber will be hosting a DJ set and putting on live bands on the final Saturday of the month (28th July) Playing this gig will be- Substance, Emilio Pinchi, Fools Paradise, Jim McShee, Paper Tigers and Vellocet!! This will be a fantastic day celebrating local music in Stoke-on-Trent and could well be the start of things to come for Radical's Rising and 6 Towns Radio

Be sure to listen to this Thursday nights show, if you missed the interviews with Richard Buxton, Six Towns, or Fools Paradise, they will all be repeated on the show after midnight, and of course, the new Hype Chart will be played from half past one!!

Playing live in the studio this Sunday between four and six we have the fantastic Nicola Jayne, who recently signed a contract with local music management company Venombase Management.
