6TR ROCK SHOW NEW MUSIC ALERT! Dead Daisies ‘Make Some Noise’ album review

Con from the show reviews this album, released on Friday 5th August ‘Make Some Noise’ from The Dead Daisies.

If you are a fan of Guns ‘N’ Roses, Aerosmith and Classic Rock in general then The Dead Daisies new album Make Some Noise will be right up your street. A band’s third album has always been labelled as the ‘difficult release’ but The Dead Daisies have risen to the occasion and produced a modern day classic.

This album grabs you right by the scruff of the neck from the opening riff and massive chorus of Long Way To Go and continues with the awesome We All Fall Down which reminds me of Appetite For Destruction era Guns ‘N’ Roses. The new addition to the band, guitarist Doug Aldrich is all over this record and has produced a stunning performance over the 12 tracks…..He really has kicked things up a notch or two!

Song And A Prayer is destined to become a future classic track with its catchy hook line and vocalist, John Corabi puts in a blistering vocal performance on this future single.

Mainline is up next and is one of those tracks that I have found myself driving faster than usual to! This track is one of my personal favourites and is like being taken on a locomotive at high speed!

Title track Make Some Noise is reminiscent of Queen and will sound amazing in the big arenas with its shout-along chorus.

Fortunate Son is one of two cover versions that The Daisies make their own. Their take on this Creedence Clearwater Revival song has never sounded this powerful before and neither has the other cover track, The Who’s Join Together. The Daisies take a song and inject serious attitude and swagger. Both these versions sound like they have been injected with steroids!

Last Time I Saw The Sun is the type of song that I have been waiting for Aerosmith to record for years. One of the finest riffs I have heard for years a huge chorus – again surely a potential single?

Mine All Mine and How Does It Feel are both quality tracks with great songwriting and great performances from all the musicians in the band.

Just when you think the Daisies might drop the pace a little you are knocked sideways by the opening riff to Freedom and they are off again with another fast and furious rocker. This is followed by another tip of the hat to Aerosmith with All The Same.

So there you have it. In my opinion The Dead Daisies have already produced one of the best albums you will hear this year and I think it will become a classic. An album packed full of top notch tracks with great choruses and sterling performances from each member. It also has a serious attitude that I haven’t heard since Appetite For Destruction. The Daisies may be seasoned musicians but on this album they play like their lives depend upon it.

Try to catch them live as well because after seeing them twice in the last six months I can vouch that this band are ‘on fire’ when they play live.

Here’s to album number 4!
