One of The Potteries’ greatest old pubs has a new landlord, & it’s someone 6 Towns Radio knows well!
6TR director Rob Ledgar has taken over The Coachmakers Arms in Hanley with his partner Debbie Clarke.
And very much in 6TR style, he is wanting to use it to boost the local community spirit and promote local artists & poets. As well as selling the best pulled pint of Bass beer in the city (& for only £2.50)!
The pub, opposite Hanley Bus Station, was due to be bulldozed under the original plans for the now abandoned City Sentral retail centre. But now one of the Potteries’ best-loved pubs has been re-launched by the new landlord & landlady.
Dating from the 19th century, this historical Lichfield Street pub is one of the last to still have a layout of four original rooms leading off a central passageway. By doing so it retains the heritage of its 1850s roots.
The Coachmakers has been officially re-launched by Stoke’s Lord Mayor Lilian Dodd, so stay tuned for forthcoming events and developments from Rob.
In the meantime, get on down there! Opening hours are:
