Stoke City vs. Blackburn Rovers Preview
Stoke City take on Blackburn Rovers at the Bet365 Stadium hoping to continue their recent
improvement in form which has seen them pick up a point at Hillsborough, albeit after
giving away a two-goal lead against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Potters followed that up with a home win against Swansea City and there are signs
that Gary Rowett’s side are beginning to get things right and perhaps justify the
‘favourites’ tag bestowed on them at the beginning of the season.
Joe Allen appeared to struggle a little to adapt to life in the Championship at the
beginning of the season, but along with former Brentford man Ryan Woods and Nigerian
international Peter Etebo, the trio driving the engine room are starting to find their feet.
Rovers’ boss Tony Mowbray insists his side have “nothing to fear” as his side prepare to
take on a side who were two divisions above them last season and Blackburn are
currently two points better off then their opponents going into the game.
Behind the eight-ball in their efforts to get back to the Prem, Stoke are just under evens (-102) favorites
against Blackburn 14/5 (+280). The draw 5/2 (+250) may be the best value on the board,
though, so you should probably want to check out this list if you bet online, as this odds
are pretty steady across many sportsbooks.
Rovers have drawn five of their eight games so far and haven’t won an away league
match since beating Doncaster Rovers last season. The Potters have won three in a row at home
(including League Cup play) and are 3-1-1 overall in their last five, but they have three
draws of their own so far, and their only EFL wins on the year are against 19th-place Hull
and 10th-place Swansea.
So, does that help give you an insight on who might get the victory?
