Attempted Distraction Burglary In Longton

Staffordshire Police are appealing for information following an attempted distraction burglary which took place at a house in Longton yesterday evening (April 6).

A man entered a house in Smith Street at around 6.30pm claiming to be selling dusters and other household cleaning items. While he was inside the property the man searched two rooms, but is believed he left empty-handed after being told to go by the elderly householder.

He is described as a young white man, of medium build with brown hair. He wore a T-shirt and jeans and carried a large black and red bag.

Detective constable Craig Shields, of Staffordshire Police, said: “I want to appeal to the public for any information regarding this man and I’d also ask people to be vigilant and look out for friends and neighbours following this incident.”
