College Opens Doors To Prospective Students

College opens doors to prospective students
Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) is encouraging prospective students and their families to come along to their Open Event on Wednesday 15 March between 5.30pm and 8pm.
The Open Event will provide the perfect opportunity for current year 11 pupils to visit the College and speak to expert curriculum staff to get impartial advice on A Levels, vocational courses and apprenticeships. Existing NULC students will also be on hand at the Open Event to give an overview of what it’s like to study at the College of first choice in Staffordshire.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to get involved in a range of taster sessions and take a tour of the top-class academic, vocational, sports, music and performing arts facilities NULC has to offer. The College’s Student Services team, which is rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted, will also be present to offer guidance and provide informative information on the student support and financial support options available.
Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive at NULC, who will be presenting at the Open Event, said: “We’re inviting school pupils and their families to our Open Events to provide them with information on the full range of options available, so that they can make an informed choice about their future studies once they leave school. Our expert staff will be on hand throughout the morning to help young people get the right advice so they can apply for the right course for them.”
Once prospective students have received all the information they need, they can apply for their chosen course(s) on the evening at an ‘Application Station’, a designated area in the College where staff will be providing guidance on completing the application process.
The College has an excellent track record in preparing students for employment, further education or higher education, indeed for several consecutive years, the College has sent more students to university than any other college in Staffordshire.
NULC is one of the largest providers of 16-18 education in Staffordshire and offers every type of post-16 course, including A Levels, vocational courses and apprenticeships, which all prepare young people for the world of work and university.
Courses are available in a wide range of subjects including 34 different AS/A Levels plus vocation courses in Art, Design and Media, Fashion, Childcare and Early Years, Business, Computing, Construction, Engineering, Beauty, Hairdressing, Health and Social Care, Music, Performing Arts, Public Services, Sport and Travel and Tourism with Events.
Attendees of the Open Event will also have the opportunity to win a Kindle Fire, visitors simply have to pre-register online to be entered into the competition and the winner will be contacted shortly after the Open Event has taken place.
