Today sees Stoke City Boss Mark Hughes linked with the Chelsea manager role after Jose Mourinho parted company with the London club.
Is this just idle speculation linking a successful, British manager who happens to be an ex Chelsea player with the job or do you see it as being a credible option for Roman Abramovich to persuade “Sparky” into the hot spot?
Bookmakers are usually a strong indicator in matters of managerial appointments and with Hughes being touted as joint seventh favourite, alongside German National Team Boss Joachim Löw then Potters fans should be able to sleep easy knowing that the manager who has changed the way that their club play should be staying for the long term. However, as a famous football pundit once (well quite a few times actually) said “It’s A Funny Old Game!’
Stoke City fan Marc Espley of the most popular supporter page on Facebook Stoke Loud and Proud said
“Though Mark Hughes has proven he is a top quality Manager and restored his reputation showing that QPR disaster was not his fault, I cannot see Chelsea even giving him a second look for manager as his profile is not big enough for the Ego’s that run Chelsea FC”
Sean Ruane aka The Hairy Potter said
“Very much like football tickets there are Category A Category B and Category C banded matches i’m afraid there are few Category A Managers about but a surplus of Category B Managers of which at 25/1 Mark Hughes remains in this category until he achieves continual success at a European Level”
